Moxibustion
Beneficial warmth to boost vital energy
The Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medical technique which involves heating acupuncture points with a stick of dried mugwort (moxa), without burning the skin. It aims to tone up the Qi (vital energy), stimulate circulation and drive out cold or dampness from the body.
How does it work?
Moxa is a medicinal plant (artemisia vulgaris) which, once dried and crushed, is shaped into a stick or cone.
During a session :
- The moxa is lit and held a few centimetres from the skin, close to precise acupuncture points.
- The heat penetrates deeply, without ever causing a burn.
- It can be used alone or in conjunction with an acupuncture session.
Application time: 10 to 20 minutes per area
A sensation of gentle, deep, highly relaxing warmth
